And I would say - though I really don't produce much fic at all, and I'm terribly slow when I do - with something like this, especially if you're looking at the mini-bigbang as an avenue for it, then for now you could just go with those scenes that don't necessarily move the plot forward but which you love and which feel right. Just to get into the flow of writing the characters/story, and then you can sharpen it up later.
